Ukraine wants to enforce recovery of $3 bln fine from Gazprom
KIEV, Oct 5 (PRIME) -- The Ukrainian antimonopoly committee has filed a suit to the Kiev Economic Court to enforce recovery of a U.S. $3 billion penalty from Russian gas maker Gazprom, an official of the committee told PRIME on Wednesday.
“We have sent the case to the Kiev Economic Court,” the official said.
The committee imposed the fine in 2015 to punish the company for its monopolist position on the transit gas market. Gazprom said it was baffled by the decision because it does not operate in Ukraine but concedes its gas to state energy holding Naftogaz Ukrainy on the border with Russia.
Gazprom challenged the ruling, but all Ukrainian courts dismissed its complaints.
